Isha Kamara is a dedicated social entrepreneur, educator, and advocate committed to creating opportunities and fostering economic growth for marginalized communities, particularly within the African diaspora. As the Founder and Chief Ecosystem Officer of Breaking the Ice, Isha bridges the gap between small business owners and essential ecosystem partners. Through consulting, coaching, and event support, she empowers Black entrepreneurs by connecting them with the resources, mentorship, and relationships they need to thrive.

In addition to her role at Breaking the Ice, Isha directors Serra Lyoa Group, her family-owned business in Sierra Leone, where she contributes to both cultural and economic development across multiple sectors including hospitality and tourism, agriculture, real estate, and more. Over her professional career, she has made a significant impact through her work with programs like 10,000 Small Businesses, Black in Business, Launchpad Program, Girls Who Enterprise, and Greens n' Grains. She has also mentored student entrepreneurs at Howard University, Morgan State University, and University of Maryland, College Park, supporting initiatives such as the University of Shady Grove’s Equity Incubator.

Isha’s educational foundation includes a Bachelor’s degree in African American Studies from the University of Maryland, which ignited her passion for community development and entrepreneurship. She is currently completing her Master’s in Management Studies and holds a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from UMD.

Rooted in Prince George’s County, Maryland, Isha’s work reflects her commitment to sustainable growth, inclusivity, and community empowerment. With deep ties to the Washington, DC- Baltimore area, she leverages her leadership, strategic insight, and advocacy to build impactful programs, support emerging entrepreneurs, and create meaningful change in the communities she serves.
